Race by race recap of key performers and ones to watch moving forward from Saturday’s Tattersall’s Club Cup meeting at Randwick.
While the Carnival has well and truly headed Melbourne, a couple of strong winners at Randwick on Saturday have likely booked a last minute ticket south.
Legislation, Kaonic and Goodfella each impressed while a few also caught the eye commencing their respective campaigns later in the program, namely Kinshachi, Collateral and New Universe.
Race 1: Legislation - 2YO Plate (1000m)
It was a very promising debut by Legislation. Damian Browne coming down sacrificing good rides in Brisbane should have been a dead giveaway. The gun for hire wasn’t in Sydney for a holiday. The only surprise really was the silly price he went around at - $9.00 and only got there from double figures after being supported late.

He’s run to a Timeform rating of 107. That has Legislation as the third highest rated two-year-old so far this season. Only the Breeders’ Plate quinella Performer and Bondi sit ahead of him.
The Not A Single Doubt colt was a Magic Millions purchase so the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) on the Gold Coast in January is a potential goal coming up.
Race 2: Kaonic - Benchmark 75 3YO Handicap (1600m)
A few in Sydney have booked a last minute ticket to Melbourne for what they did on Saturday - Kaonic is one of them.
He defied a market drift and really put them away in the straight. It netted him a Timeform rating of 102p.

There always been a bit of a wrap on the colt, he’s delivering on it.
The Carbine Club Stakes is next for him. Waller has won the race in two of the past three seasons. Comin’ Through last year and Kermadec in 2014 who like Kaonic was raced by Neville Morgan and trained by Chris Waller.
Race 3: She Knows - Class 3 Highway Handicap (1100m)
She Knows was only narrowly beaten first up by Larlabrook and got things done here. She sports Concussion Plates so she no doubt loved the soft surface underfoot on Saturday.
It was only her fourth start on Saturday and has run to a Timeform rating of 88.

The runner up I Am Capitan was strong to the line late. He’s placed in each of his four runs this prep.
Highway Sixtysix was solid late also in just her second career start.
Race 4: Destiny’s Kiss - Tattersall’s Club Cup (2400m)
He’s been racing well. It’s rain affected ground where Destiny’s Kiss performs best though.
Saturday was the first time he got it since running third in the Winter Cup on July 1 and the Power Of Destiny gelding duly capitalised.

He’ll be freshened now and aimed up at the Summer and Christmas Cups.
Alward was solid stepping up in grade and ran second despite having a clear liking for firmer surfaces. Admiral Jello, after five straight placings this looked a race where he was well suited however still couldn’t convert.
Race 5: Improvement - Benchmark 85 Handicap (1400m)
She was able to work forward, dictate and held on from a closing Collateral.

Improvement was awarded a Timeform rating of 99 for the performance, three pounds shy of her master Timeform figure achieved earlier this year during a summer prep.
Collateral was the eye catcher late for second. We know Collateral for working through his grades last campaign over a mile and beyond. It was a highly encouraging start to his preparation over an unsuitable trip.
Race 6: Goodfella - Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m)
He’s put two wins together now. The latest has netted him a Timeform rating of 108.
He showed a lot of promise as a two-year-old and ran fourth in the Magic Millions behind Houtzen.

Goodfella underwent a tie-back op in his latest spell and that’s clearly paying dividends.
The Coolmore Stud Stakes down the Flemington Straight Six is next for the Snitzel colt. He’ll be up against some nice three-year-olds so will have to lift again on Saturday’s performance. Trainer Bjorn Baker said it post race though, you’ve got to be in it to win it.
Andaz was good late in third. He was returning from a freshen up on Saturday. He’ll be fitter for it.
Race 7: White Moss - Nivison (1200m)
White Moss was being thrown in the deep end on Saturday but she thrived.
In successfully jumping from a midweek win at Canterbury to a Group 3 to she’s produced a Timeform rating of 105.

She’s a Group 3 winner now and is a half sister to White Sage who was highly talented as well.
Third placegetter Kinshachi was impressive first up. She’s an extremely consistent mare who’ll improve from the run.
Dixie Blossoms and Daysee Doom were each solid late nearer to the inside.
They were finding the line well and it will keep them ticking over towards the Myer Classic.
Race 8: Mortar Platoon - Benchmark 85 Handicap (1600m)
Mortar Platoon has struggled for consistency since arriving in Australia however found a new career peak on Saturday with an effort assessed at 101.

His tendency to mix form makes the UK import hard to trust.
Runner up Impavido shapes as the horse to follow out of the race, working home strongly for second.
A Benchmark 80 Handicap over 1800m at Rosehill on Derby Day shapes as the logical route for Impavido who will take plenty of holding out fourth up.
Race 9: My Country - Benchmark 88 Handicap (1200m)
Things look back on track for the My Country after a forgettable autumn where she bled.
The daughter of Poet’s Voice ran to a Timeform rating of 93, well below what she is capable of however a step in the right direction nonetheless.

A stakes winner at two and twice stakes placed at three, a trip to Melbourne in pursuit of more black type is an option this campaign. If connections wish to remain at home, a 1200m Fillies and Mares Benchmark 85 Handicap on her home track could be a suitable target.
Crafty Cop has placed in his two runs back from a spell and has clearly returned well.
New Universe was strong late. He’ll take holding out second run from a spell.
