With racing returning to Randwick-Kensington yesterday, a smart one looks to have announced himself with the spring carnival just around the corner.
Randwick-Kensington Race 6 – Arnold
It didn't take a genius to find the one to follow from yesterday's meeting at Randwick-Kensington. Going around at $1.80, James Mcdonald rode his mount like he WAS the best horse in the race, settling the Hinchinbrook gelding near the rear of the field in a three-wide with cover position. With the tempo increasing approaching the home turn McDonald eased Arnold off heels to begin his run. Cruising up to them at the 200m, the four-year-old quickly put pay to his rivals and careered away to score softly on the line by just under 2L. While the win was authoritative, Arnold still looks to have plenty of scope for improvement.
