ROSEHILL October 12

Good 4; Rail Out 2m 1500m-900m; 3m remainder inc. 1200m chute

Best Bets

RACE 8 (10) GRINGOTTS: Desperately unlucky not to have added to his impressive strike rate when he was beaten a nose in the G3 Bill Ritchie over 1400m at Randwick on September 21 when he flew to the line after being badly held up from the 400m. He's missed a place only once in 14 starts and his seven wins include five at this distance, among them a victory at this course when first up in the autumn. Rates as the one to beat from a favourable draw that is vital in this big field..

RACE 9 (9) BLANC DE BLANC: Talented mare has been very good in her two starts since resuming, recording unlucky seconds in strong form races over 1100m at this course. She is set to peak third up and I like the confidence connections are showing by electing to tackle this G3 event with the dual acceptor. Rates well on her early Group form as a 2YO.

RACE 10 (10) PHARARI: It was a luckless Sydney debut by this promising mare to finish third over this course and distance two weeks ago after nothing went right for her from the start. After an unexpected slow getaway she had all sorts of problems getting a clear crack from the 400m and the fact that she posted the fastest closing 200m sectional of the meeting to be beaten only a length underlined her obvious talent. Surely things go right for her this time from the rails draw.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1 - (11) MONTE KATE: Hasn't had the best of luck since resuming. Has reached her peak and drawn to get in run favours.

RACE 2 - (4) ONE BEAT NO BEAT: Good value in a tough race. Strong trial points to improvement in this company.

RACE 3 - (9) MEDATSU: Back home and drops to a low weight for the return to 2000m. Enough reasons to like his chances.

RACE 4: (1) SWIFT FALCON: Too classy last week when he ate up 1600m. Has the advantage under set weights on his home track.

RACE 5 - (1) COLEMAN: Rates to win on his G1 form that includes his close Golden Slipper second at this course.

RACE 6 - (5) SNACK BAR: Excellent placings in the right races since resuming. Ready for a peak performance.

RACE 7 - (4) KOVALICA: Conditions suit backing up from his unlucky Epsom fourth. Extra trip in his favour.

TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL October 4: ADMITTED, a winner on debut at Bendigo last season before starting favourite in the Maribyrnong Plate, impressed with his strong work to lead throughout in his open 900m heat (55.00; 34.70) under a big hold and hold an advantage over G1 star Stefi Magnetica over the last 100m. Watch for ADMITTED to make his return as he is eligible for low class restricted races.

WARWICK FARM September 30: Well-known front runner IKNOWASTAR sped to a huge win in the fastest 1207m heat (72.37; 35.24), leading on the turn by 15 lengths and coasting home by 12 lengths in a sterling hitout that will have him ready to perform in a suitable event over the carnival. Other carnival prospects to show good form in their prep trials included BALLROOM BELLA, ENCAP, TERRITORY EXPRESS and OLENTIA.

ROSEHILL September 16: The quickest 900m heat was won by the Baker-trained IKNOWASTAR (53.86; 33.72), doing his best work over the last 100m to run past the leader BALLROOM BELLA. Import COCO JAMBOO (3rd) also impressed in her 1030m heat (62.77; 35.01).
