Early mail for Rosehill on May 11.
RACE 6 (13) PIRATE BAY: Top Newcastle trainer Kris Lees is building a good record with imports and he looks to have another talented prospect in this Hawk Wing four-year-old. A three time winner up to 2000m in France, he is well placed for his first Australian win after his last start third on a heavy track in the in the JRA Plate (2000m) at Randwick when having only his third start for Lees. Must be hard to beat with further improvement as he stays on the limit and meets the runner-up from that race Fibrillation on 1.5kg better terms.
RACE 7 (7) UNDER THE SUN: Has mixed his form a bit this prep but showed he was back in the right groove last start when a game second to Keith's Legacy over 1400m on a heavy track at Randwick on April 20. Boasts an excellent record at Rosehill where he has finished out of the money only once in six starts and looks set to add to that record with the return to a firmer surface, being an on pace runner who should get all the favours from his inside gate.
RACE 8 (8) KEY WEST: Good fresh performer has won three times when first-up in the past and looks well prepared to add to that record coming off a sharp trial win over 900m at this course. Boasts a strong record on his home track, draw suits and the booking of Nash Rawiller is significant as they have formed a winning partnership in the past. Will be good value in a tough race.
