Early Mail and Blackbook Update For October 3/4

3 minute read

Early mail and Blackbook Update for Randwick on September 3.

RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 2 (4) CALLIOPE: I was really taken by the way this well-bred Exceed And Excel filly trialled at Randwick on September 21 when she extended easily to score by four lengths in fast time, running her last 600m in a slick 33.7 seconds with plenty in reserve. There is no better two-year-old production line than the Godolphin stable and fully expect her to have really come on with the benefit of that trial.

RACE 4 (1) TERRAVISTA: He was ready to go when an acceptor two weeks ago after two excellent trials but was held back by trainer Joe Pride due to a heavy track, a decision that is set to pay off handsomely this weekend on a much better surface. He has a lot in his favour under the wfa conditions and ticks all the right boxes with his super first-up record and excellent course and distance stats.

RACE 6 (1) COMPLACENT: He was an outstanding Chelmsford Stakes winner two starts back beating Kermadec and Royal Descent when having just his second race in almost two years before a game third in the Hill Stakes over this course and distance on September 19 in more testing conditions. Meets a very similar field and expecting him to be much harder to run down now that he has had that all important recent run over this trip, no forgetting that he was a G1 winner over the Randwick 2000m as a three-year-old.
