Early Mail and Blackbook Update For October 14

3 minute read

Early mail and Blackbook Update for racing at Randwick and Caulfield on Saturday October 14.

RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 4 (11) SUNCRAZE: Raw talent cost himself some early wins but it all came together for him when blinkers were applied in July as he is since unbeaten in two city races and two trials. Kept fresh since he beat the impressive Don’t Give A Damn and three other subsequent winners over 1200m at Rosehill five weeks ago and showed he was in top order when he sailed to an easy trial win over 1200m at Newcastle on September 29. Never worse than second in nine starts, including a win over this course and distance, speaks for itself.

RACE 5 (8) OKLAHOMA GIRL: Chris Waller stacks the field with four winning chances but happy to side with this quiet achiever after her excellent first-up third over 1400m at Rosehill when she powered through the line late behind protest winner Wayanka and the classy Interlocuter. This is an ideal progression as she is unbeaten in her three starts over 1600m - including her only appearance at Randwick - and will relish dropping 5.5kg which sees her well in for a mare who was Group placed in the Doomben Roses and Queensland Oaks last season.

RACE 7 (12) IN HER TIME: A stand out under these weight-for-age conditions on her current form and ratings. Hard to comprehend why she was overlooked by slot holders for a berth in The Everest after she comfortably beat four of the contenders at wfa in the G2 Premiere Stakes over this same course and distance when resuming two weeks ago, made better by the fact she wore bar plates. Must improve with those dreaded plates coming off and she should be winning again if she avoids problems from her awkward draw.
