Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney trials at Rosehill on October 18.
ROSEHILL October 18
Inside Grass; Soft 5
13 Heats – 5 x 1030m (2 Open; 3 Maiden); 8 x 900m (3 Open; 1 2YO; 4 Maiden)
A classy sprinter showed he is back on track for the rest for the spring.
REVOLT (Geraald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou): Unraced Russian Revolution colt is a ready to start his career after four trials since March, showing good improvement to win his last two trials at Rosehill this month. Followed up his success on October 4 with this sharp effort, jumping quickly to lead and sprinting clear off the turn for a dominant win in the fastest 900m heat of the session (53.81; 34.29).
SCHWARZ (John O'Shea/Tom Charlton): Went missing after he finished fifth in a black type trial at Randwick in late August that followied his classy win in the G2 Missile Stakes. An issue may have arisen that prevented him from contesting some obvious sprint targets over the Sydney carnival but showed he was back in the right form with a sharp win in his 900m heat (54.09; 34.28), sitting off the leader and extending nicely to cruise home by an unextended 2.6 lengths.
SETON HALL (Hawkes Racing): Lightly raced 5YO impressed in his previous trial on October 4 with his effort to finish third in this 900m heat won by stablemate GITALONG (54.38; 34.23) more confirmation that he is set for a successful campaign. Like his previous trial he settled well off the pace before working home under a big hold with plenty to offer through the line.
In the five trials over 1030m the three maiden heat winners POINT AND SHOOT (61.08; 34.82); AMAZING EAGLE (62.09; 34.57) and HOPPER (63.13; (35.48) had all been noted in previous trials and their efforts at this session confirmed that they are trio with the talent to win races.
The only 2YO heat over 900m was won by TROPIC (54.36; (34.89), a nice Zoustar colt from the Waller stable who looks well prepared for his debut.
