Imperatriz was the star of the show, but she wasn't the only lot to achieve an outstanding result on Day 1 of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

Eight fillies or mares sold for at least $1 million on a day when $51,725,000 changed hands at an average of $309,731 with an 84 percent clearance rate.

That compared favourably with the race fillies and mares section of last year's sale, which grossed $50,787,000 at an average of $263,145 with an 87 percent clearance rate.

Below is a look at the top lots from the opening day of a sale that continues on Wednesday and Thursday.
