In winning Sunday's Black Opal (Gr 3, 1200m) at Canberra, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Barbaric (2 c ex Mimi Lebrock by Show A Heart) became the 54th stakes winner for Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).

A $900,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase by China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and WinStar Farm from the draft of Segenhoe Stud, Barbaric defeated stablemate Bartley (Written Tycoon) by a short neck with Cellsabeel (Hinchinbrook) a close third.

"I've always thought a fair bit of him. That might get him in the Slipper now and he wouldn't be without a chance," Peter Snowden told Sky Thoroughbred Racing.

"He wants to win. He showed a bit of grit which you want to see."

Barbaric is one of five winners and the only stakes winner to date out of Group 2 winner Mimi Lebrock (Show A Heart) who has also produced the stakes placed juvenile Diddles (Snitzel). His second dam is God Love It (St Covet), the dam of seven winners including the Group 3 winning pair Heavenly Thought (So You Think) and Shoko (Sebring).

Mimi Lebrock missed to Zoustar (Northern Meteor) in 2019 having foaled a filly by Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) last October. She slipped the previous year to I Am Invincible.

I Am Invincible enjoyed a good weekend on the racetrack, posting three new stakes winners with Dame Giselle and Sangria victorious on Saturday. Barbaric meanwhile provided the son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) with his 27th juvenile stakes winner.

I Am Invincible sits at the head of the leading sires table in Australia with earnings of $11,236,737, just over $500,000 ahead of nearest rival Snitzel (Redoute's Choice). He also sits at the head of the table by winners and has 48 lots catalogued for next month's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
