Well-bred Zudin (3 c Redoute's Choice - Fenway by High Chaparral) became the first winner out of 2015 Vinery Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fenway (High Chaparral) when the son of the late Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) broke his maiden at the fifth time of asking over 1600 metres at Gosford on Wednesday.

Trained by Chris Waller and raced by Hermitage Thoroughbreds, the three-year-old colt held on well to beat his stablemate Apollate (I Am Invincible) by a neck, while Oceanic Flash (Sacred Falls) was another three-quarters of a length back in third.

Hermitage Thoroughbreds purchased the Arrowfield Stud and GSA Bloodstock-bred Zudin for $600,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling from the Arrowfield Stud draft in 2019 and New South Wales-based farm will offer Fenway’s colt by Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. The colt is catalogued as Lot 304

Zudin’s third dam is Group 1 winner Joie Denise (Danehill) - the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Tuesday Joy (Carnegie) and fellow elite level winner Sunday Joy (Sunday Silence), who in turn produced multiple Group 1 winner More Joyous (More Than Ready).

This is also the same pedigree as Don’t Doubt Mamma (Not A Single Doubt) and Listed scorer Risen From Doubt (Not A Single Doubt).

Fenway’s two-year-old is called Awakening (Snitzel) and is still in unraced, while in 2020 she produced a filly by Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) and she was covered by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) last spring.

Redoute’s Choice died in 2018 and nine yearlings from his final crop have been catalogued for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
