Fantasy was one of the most anticipated lots of Thursday's third and final day of the National Broodmare Sale but not to the extent that sirens were expected to herald her arrival into the ring.

But that's what happened after a fire alarm was activated just as the lot before her was about to be knocked down at the Magic Millions sale complex.

After a five-minute delay, with the sale cleared safe to proceed, action resumed and the Coolmore mare was knocked down for $1.7 million.

Like many of the National Sale's high-priced mares, Fantasy is off to Yulong and a likely meeting with the Victorian farm's star resident Written Tycoon.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit is from one of the most famous families in Europe, being out of the Indian Ridge mare Cassandra Go, and is in-foal to Frankel.

"She was a beautiful physical, it was an early service date to Frankel, she was a Group performer so she's a fantastic mare once again for us to add to the broodmare band," Yulong's Sam Fairgray said.

"It you keep getting fillies out of her you keep building the family and that's the idea with us. If we can build some families, in years to come we'll have a fantastic broodmare band.

"Obviously you've got to pay up, but when you're getting into families like this that's the thing you've got to do."

Group 3-placed as a two-year-old, Fantasy is one of 14 foals from Cassandra Go, 12 of whom raced with 10 winners.

There are multiple Group winners among them, the best being Halfway To Heaven, a three-time Group 1 winner who is the dam of champion racemare Magical and top filly Rhododendron.

Fantasy was the third seven-figure mare of Day 3, following Easton Angel ($1.35m) and Excellent Sunset ($1,050,000), who are also in-foal to Frankel, and they will also head to Yulong.
