Bated Breath, Twilight Son and Helmet add new stakes winners on Wednesday

18 for Bated Breath
The Ger Lyons-trained Juddmonte homebred Sacred Bridge (2 f ex Sacred Shield by Beat Hollow) became the 18th stakes winner for Bated Breath (Dansili) when she won Wednesday’s Tipperary Stakes (Listed, 5f) at Tipperary. A winner on debut at Naas just a week ago, Sacred Bridge ran on well in the closing stages to score a length and a quarter victory over Misty Ayr (Kodi Bear). Bated Breath, who stands at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket where his 2021 fee was advertised at £12,500, has sired one Grade One winner to date in Viadera and the Group Two winners Space Traveller, Worth Waiting, Daahyeh, Beckford and Gift List. He has six crops of racing age. 

 

Three for Twilight Son
Listed placed previously, Little O’Kelly (2 f ex Amontillado by Pastoral Pursuits) became the third stakes winner for the Cheveley Park Stud-based sire Twilight Son (Kyllachy) when she won Wednesday’s Premio Gino E Luciano Mantovani (Listed, 1500m) at Milan. Twilight Son’s first two stakes winners were the dual Group Three winning filly Aria Importante and Listed winner Twilight Spinner. He has also sired three stakes placegetters in Warrior Brave, Baghed and Grammata. Twilight Son has two crops of racing age. 

 

13 for Helmet
Former Darley sire Helmet (Exceed And Excel) sired his 13th stakes winner on Wednesday when the Scuderia Blueberry homebred Cantocorale (3 c ex Conservatorie by Street Cry) won the Premio Estate (Listed, 1600m) at Milan. 

Helmet is the sire of dual Dubai World Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Thunder Snow and Group Two winning pair Anda Muchacho and La Tene. He stood in Australia for six seasons between 2012 and 2017 producing 482 live foals and six of his stakes winners have come from his Australian bred crops. He is now based at Allevamento il Grifone in Italy where his 2021 fee was advertised at €5,000.
