Waikato Stud-based sire Savabeel (Zabeel) reached an important milestone on Thursday as his daughter Savacool (6 m ex Chilled Out by Anabaa) landed the Rowley Mile Handicap (Listed, 1600m) at Hawkesbury, handing New Zealand's champion sire his 100th stakes winner.

Having her 28th start, the Chris Waller-trained six-year-old mare defeated Girl Tuesday (Street Cry) by half a length, with another nose back to Spencer (Pierro) in third.

"Great to get the win on the board. Obviously she has got plenty of black-type placings in Group races but to get a Listed win is very important for her as a mare," Waller's assistant Charlie Duckworth said.

"Winning today she showed plenty of zip so it leaves us with plenty of options for her preparation ahead."

Savacool was purchased by her trainer for NZ$220,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale in 2016 and was then raced by a syndicate that included Magic Bloodstock. The mare was then sold to Waller for $165,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last year.

Savacool is one of five winners out of the unraced Anabaa (Danzig) mare Chilled Out, who is herself the daughter of Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (Listed, 1000m) winner Icy Calm (Western Symphony).

Icy Calm produced eight winners, including Listed scorer The Big Chill (O'Reilly), while she is also the grandam of Group 2 winner Coldplay (Savabeel).

In 2018 and 2019 Chilled Out produced filly and a colt respectively by the Waikato Stud-based sire.

Savabeel landed his fifth New Zealand champion sires title last season and his 100 stakes winners include 20 Group 1 winners and he will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of NZ$100,000 (plus GST).
