Inglis has released the catalogue for their highly anticipated Chairman's Sale, which will take place online on May 8. Similar to this week's Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the select sale will take the format of a virtual auction with buyer's bidding via the online platform and the telephone.

A total of 55 fillies and mares make-up the main catalogue, headlined by multiple Group 1-winning sprinter In Her Time (Time Thief), Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m) winner Booker (Written Tycoon) and Group 1 winner Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock).

The auction house also announced on Thursday that Group 1-winning mare Youngstar (High Chaparral) is the first wild card added to the already high-class catalogue.

Trained by Chris Waller, Youngstar landed the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) at her seventh career start, which at the time was her fourth consecutive victory.

She backed up in the Queensland Derby (Gr 1, 2200m) a fortnight later and finished an unlucky third against the males.

During a career in which she accumulated $1,050,337, Youngstar consistently performed well at the top-level and confirmed herself as on the best middle distance horses in Australia when finishing a one-length second to her then stablemate Winx (Street Cry) in the 2018 Turnbull Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m).

"We got a great deal of satisfaction from her racing career but we're a racing partnership, not a breeding partnership and the plan all along was to enjoy her racing career and sell her as a broodmare, and that time has come," Youngstar's purchaser and part-owner Olly Koolman said. "She's going to be a very commercial proposition to the lucky buyer.

"The genetics are there with her, the family is obviously getting continued upgrades through her little sister Funstar and she's by a fantastic stallion in High Chaparral who is already recognised as a fantastic broodmare sire – a large number of yearlings at the Easter Sale this week were out of High Chaparral mares.

"It's a very commercial pedigree and it's come a long way since we purchased her.''

Purchased for $200,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Youngstar is out of winning Danehill (Danzig) mare Starspangled, making her a half-sister to fellow Group 1 winner Funstar (Adelaide) and the winning Galileo (Sadler's Wells) mare Baggy Green - the dam of Group 3 winner Tofane (Ocean Park).

Meanwhile, another standout lot is Cleanup (Dehere) – the dam of last weekend's Group 1 Doncaster Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Nettoyer (Sebring) and she will be offered in foal to Arrowfield Stud's exciting young sire The Autumn Sun (Redoute's Choice).

Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed mare Noire (Foxwedge) and Group 2-winning Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) mare Samara Dancer, in foal to Widden Stud's freshman sire Trapeze Artist (Snitzel) also feature in the catalogue.

The catalogue also includes dual stakes winners Sprightly Lass (Snitzel) - who will be offered in foal to Pierro (Lonhro), Sword Of Light (New Approach) - in foal to Fastnet Rock (Danehill), Lubiton (Snitzel), who has been covered by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) and Meryl (Epaulette).

There are also many more high quality mares in foal to the likes of I Am Invincible, Exceed And Excel (Danehill), Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice), Fastnet Rock, Pierro, Dundeel (High Chaparral) and Zoustar (Northern Meteor) as well as covers by international superstars Frankel (Galileo), Kingman (Invincible Spirit), Lope de Vega (Shamardal) and Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado) and first season sires including Justify (Scat Daddy), The Autumn Sun and Trapeze Artist.

"To be entrusted with the opportunity to sell this calibre of bloodstock comes with significant responsibility but we have already had significant interest in the sale and we are genuinely excited to promote these mares to domestic and international investors in coming weeks ahead of the auction," Inglis' NSW bloodstock manager Chris Russell said.

"This catalogue is filled with world-class athletes with some of the best and most commercial bloodlines in the world, many in foal to several of the best stallions in the world.

"It's becoming increasingly rare for people to want to sell nice breeding prospects or mares, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to sell these for our vendors.''

The 2020 Chairman's Sale will begin at 3pm on Friday May 8 online at inglis.
