Murtajill Filly Tops Capricornia Sale

3 minute read

South Australian trainer Bill Smart paid the top price of $33,000 at the Capricornia Yearling Sale in Rockhampton for a filly by Murtajill.

The April 1 sale was conducted by Magic Millions with the 48 lots sold averaging $8040.

The Capricornia Sale was staged under difficulties due to rising floodwaters from the Fitzroy River.

Patinack Farm offered the top priced filly from the first crop by Murtajill.

The filly's dam Fiery Dee (Fraar) is a half-sister to G3 SAJC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Silent Surround (Face Value).

A filly by Real Saga realised $30,000 to the bid of trainer Tony Gollan. She is from the Lion Hunter mare Girlzone, a sister to Flemington stakes winner La Chasseuse.
