New Sires On Show At Tattersalls

3 minute read

A slightly smaller than usual group of first season stallions will be represented in the premier Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale but those with their first representatives are certainly a top-class bunch.

The number of first-crop sires has dropped from 16 in last year's Book 1 to 10 this year, but that number includes the winners of 30 G1 races between them, including the Derby, 2000 Guineas, two Breeders' Cup Classics, a King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, an Eclipse, a July Cup and a St Leger.

The Derby winner New Approach has 19 lots catalogued, including a half-brother to the prolific Hong Kong champion Viva Pataca.

Another of New Approach's offerings is the first foal out of a winning sister to the 2003 Oaks heroine Casual Look, as well as the G1-placed Shabby Chic.

Also on offer from New Approach is a half-brother to the multiple Group winner Mores Wells, himself a son of New Approach's grandsire Sadler's Wells.

The colt is also closely related to the G3 Queen's Vase runner-up Galient (Galileo).

A beautifully-bred New Approach filly is a half-sister to the dual G1 heroine Simply Perfect out of the G1-placed Hotelgenie Dot Com.

The new sire with the biggest batch of first crop yearlings is the five-time G1 victor Duke Of Marmalade.

His 30 yearlings include a half-brother to this season's G2 Flying Childers winner Requinto.

An interesting Duke Of Marmalade prospect is a half-brother to this year's G1 King's Stand Stakes winner Society Rock.

The dual 2000 Guineas winner Henrythenavigator has five lots catalogued, among them a filly out of a stakes placed half-sister to Shamardal.

Hascombe & Valiant Stud has enjoyed a great season with its homebred yearlings and among this year's draft is a Henrythenavigator colt who is a half-brother to both the 2000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand and the dam of this season's G1 National Stakes winner Power.

Among the six lots on offer by the G1-winning miler Tamayuz is a half-sister to the dual G3 winner Jazz Princess, from the speedy family of Zieten and Blue Duster.

The Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass has 12 lots catalogued, including a half-sister to the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Elusive Wave who is also by a son of Elusive Quality in Elusive City.

There are eye-catching Mount Nelson fillies, including a half-sister to the dual G1 King's Stand Stakes victor Equiano, and a half-sister to the 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa.

The sole representative of the Breeders' Cup Classic winner Curlin is a half-brother to the smart performer Danzon while the St Leger winner Sixties Icon's only catalogued yearling is a half-brother to two winners of the G3 Albany Stakes in Nijoom Dubai and this year's heroine, Samitar.
