* FRANKEL's first crop success has spread to Japan with his 14th individual winner at Hanshin on Saturday.

The Sunday Racing-owned 2YO filly Mi Suerte (Frankel x Mi Sueno by Pulpit) ran out an impressive two lengths winner of a maiden over 1600m at her first start.

The filly was bred by Northern Farm and is the third foal out of Mi Sueno, winner of the GI Del Mar Debutante and G3 Sorrento Stakes who was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for $1.9 million at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale in 2013.

Mi Sueno, who was bought by Southern Equine Stables for $1.7 million at Keeneland November in 2007, is a daughter of GI winner Madcap Escapade, a half-sister to G1 winner Dubai Escapade.

They are out of the stakes-winning Sassy Pants. Mi Sueno has a yearling filly by Heart’s Cry.

• SATURDAY’s G1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket produced a quinella for boom Kentucky-based sire War Front when the Aidan O’Brien-trained Brave Anna edged out her stablemate Roly Poly by a short head.

The winner, a daughter of the Sadler’s Wells mare Liscanna, provided her sire with his 11th G1 winner and gave O’Brien his first success in the fillies feature.

Brave Anna, owned by her Kentucky breeder E Stockwell, is a sister to the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hit It A Bomb and had previously won the G2 Albany Stakes.

Her dam Liscanna, a G3 winner, is from the Listed winner and G2 runner-up Lahinch, a half-sister to the stakes-winner Perugino Bay.

Perugino Bay is responsible for the G3 winning sire The Bogberry (Hawk Wing) and G2 placed Lahinch Classics (Galileo).

Lahinch is a granddaughter of the G2 winner Paint The Town (Vaguely Noble), whose descendants include the G2 winner C’est L’Amour (Thunder Gulch).

Liscanna has yearling and foal colts by War Front.

• CURLIN colt Connect capped off a remarkable day for the Chad Brown barn with his win in the $1.3 million Pennsylvania Derby at Parx.

Connect’s victory came after the Brown-trained Deeply Undervalued (Kitten’s Joy) won Laurel’s G2 Commonwealth Derby and stablemates had filed the quinella in the G3 Noble Damsel Stakes at Belmont.

Connect is a half brother to Tani Maru from Bullville Belle (Holy Bull), also the dam of a 2YO colt by Tizway and an Uncle Mo colt foal.

Connect, sold for $150,000 at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton July Sale, has won four of his six starts and $950,000 and underlined the Arrogate form in the amazing Travers Stakes at Saratoga in August. Connect had finished a distant sixth but was found to have a lung infection.

Connect bounced back at Parx to beat another Travers Stakes starter and G2 winner Gun Runner while the favoured pair Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist and Preaklness Stakes winner Exaggerator were unplaced.

Nyquist and Exaggerator were meeting for the seventh time in their careers and in their previous six clashes one of the pair had always won.

• AZAMOUR sired his 33rd stakes winner when the Godolphin-owned colt Best Of Days landed the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
