Debut Runner Wins For Per Incanto

3 minute read

First season Street Cry stallion Per Incanto had a dream start when his first runner Hocus Pocus won at Wanganui on Saturday.

The Gerald Innes trained 2YO filly scored in the Veandercross Juvenile Plate over 800m.

Hocus Pocus (Per Incanto x Little Hazel by Black Minnaloushe) is out of a half-sister to Cranbourne Cup winner Starmon but didn’t make his $3000 reserve at the NZB South Island yearling sale in April.

Per Incanto, who has been standing at Little Avondale Stud in NZ since 2011, won two juvenile events in Italy and returned at the following year to win again in Rome and Milan before completing a hat-trick in the G3 Premio Tudini back at Capannelle.

Named Champion Italian 3YO Sprinter in 2007, he was subsequently purchased by Shadwell Stud but injury kept him winless until he won at Aqueduct in the US as a five year-old.

His dam is the Italian champion sprinter Papa Reale (Indian Ridge), also the dam of another champion Italian sprinter Patapan (Stravinsky) who stands at Belmont Park Stud in NZ.
