Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Rockhampton.

Ossenhagen (Race 3) is challenging for favouritism at $3.60 after firming half a point in early betting. He comes off a midfield last start effort but had won well at this track and distance when resuming and the market support suggests he is ready to bounce back third up.

Barcelona Bound (Race 4) is being given a good each way chance at $6.50 having halved his opening quote since trading commenced. He may have found the mile too far when well beaten last start but he returns to a journey he has won at before and is a two-time victor at this course.

Turkey Beach (Race 5) is a well-supported favourite at $2.60, having firmed about 30 cents this morning. He has one of the top last-start ratings in this field after winning last start and is a lightly-raced horse with some upside.

Wildebeast (Race 6) is now the clear second favourite at $4.20 with good support seeing his quote shorten by two full points this morning. He resumes today but has a 50 per cent winning strike rate first up and at this course.

Colour Me Grey (Race 7) has been backed at an each way price and has shortened two-and-a-half points to a fixed odds quote of $5.50 with TopBetta. He has one of the highest ratings in this field after running on from the tail first up and should be improved by the added fitness and the longer trip.
