The Money Trail – Port Macquarie, November 10

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting for Thursday’s meeting at Port Macquarie.

Parnossos (Race 1) has been backed into an odds on quote at $1.95, shortening more than a half point. He has placed at both runs this campaign, the latest at the provincials, so is suited here and should be peaking third up.

Uttar Pradesh (Race 2) has taken over as favourite at $3.40 after firming more than a dollar in early betting. He closed well to miss narrowly when resuming and has won second up in the past so the punters are looking for him to improve up to this distance.

Isthmian (Race 4) is a well-supported market elect at $2.20, which is close to a point and a half shorter than his opening price. She led and was headed when resuming but fought hard to win her maiden and the punters are banking on her talking another step forward.

Penny Dreadful (Race 5) has almost halved her opening price to $4.20 and at that quote is now a clear favourite. She has run fourth at both runs this campaign, including when steaming home at this course first up, so could be ready to strike third up.

I Wanna Be A Jeep (Race 7) is a lightly-raced but promising three-year-old and the punters are looking for him to continue on the upward spiral, backing him in a point and a half to $2.80. He was luckless when a fast-finishing third on debut then atoned in winning a Grafton maiden last start.
