The Money Trail – Canterbury, February 17

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Friday’s meeting at Canterbury.

Missile Coda (Race 3) has been backed into favouritism at $2.80, which is two and a half points shorter than her best price. The filly went straight to the paddock after a debut win at Kembla and is expected to return well after two solid recent trials.

Philosophy (Race 4) is challenging for favouritism at $3.20 having shortened a half point this morning. The progressive mare has won both of her starts this campaign at Beaumont and Warwick Farm and there is support to say she can continue the winning run.

Gretna (Race 5) is a warm favourite at $2.10, which is 60 cents shorter than her opening price. The Waller-trained filly raced in stakes company in the spring and should be fit for this second up off a resuming fourth at Randwick.

Regatta Rebel (Race 8) is now second pick in the market at $5, two points shorter than her opening quote. The mare was tried in stakes company last campaign but was dropped back to the provincials for a Gosford fourth when resuming and is expected to improve second up.
