The Money Trail – Hawkesbury, February 21

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Hawkesbury.

Cilla (Race 1) is starting to challenge for favouritism at $2.90 with good support seeing her firm more than a point early. She comes off a Bathurst Cup failure last start but won at Kembla before that and does her best work at this distance.

Wooshka (Race 3) has more than halved her opening quote to $6 but still offers each way value after opening well into double figures. The Written Tycoon filly is on debut for Team Snowden and comes off two placings in city barrier trials.

Lattimer (Race 4) is another each way hope at $6, having firmed three points in early trading. The filly closed well for second when resuming at this course and should be fitter second up and suited by the extra 200m.

Shock Alert (Race 5) has taken over as favourite at $2.40 having been well supported early, in more than two points on opening figures. The lightly raced gelding appreciated the step up to this trip when a close second at Wyong last time at should continue to improve with experience.

Naughty Thoughts (Race 6) has been the best tried into $4.80, almost two and a half points shorter than her initial price. The Waller-trained filly broke through with a maiden win on the Beaumont track last start and the punters are backing her to take another step forward.

Every Chance (Race 8) has closed the gap on the favourite in the betting at $3.80, 60 cents shorter than his opening quote. He won his maiden well at this course last time and while up in grade should be better again third up.
