The Money Trail – Werribee, May 15

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Monday’s meeting at Werribee.

Deecember (Race 3) opened as equal favourite but now stands alone at the top of the market at $3.60 having firmed the best part of a point. She had placed at her first five starts before little went her way last time and the punters are giving her another chance third up.

Three Point Genius (Race 4) has taken over as favourite at $3.70 having tightened close to a full point since betting commenced. The three-year-old showed promise when runner up on debut and is open to natural improvement.

Lady De Bathe (Race 5) is a warm favourite at $2.50, half a point shorter than her best price. She improved at her second career outing when runner up and the punters are backing her to take another step forward.

Menabrea (Race 6) opened as equal top pick but is now $3.20 favourite, nearly a point shorter than her best quote. The lightly-raced filly will find this much easier than her last attempt at Caulfield and had won at Kilmore before that.

Stylish Assassin (Race 8) has been a good go as a $2.30 favourite having shortened a point and a quarter this morning. He should benefit from the return to the turf having placed at Geelong two starts back.

King Deano (Race 9) opened well into each way odds but has firmed more than three points to $4.40 and is now second pick in the market. He was placed off a freshen up last start and goes well at the mile.
