Handy galloper Broadcast gets the chance to return to winning form in today's final race at Warwick Farm – the Warwick Farm Handicap (race 7).
The gelding, prepared by leading trainer Peter Snowden and to be ridden by Corey Brown, is fitter for three runs from a spell and looks hard to hold out in this one metropolitan winners race over 1300m.
The gelding, a son of Viscount, was a Caulfield winner five back then after a disappointing effort at Flemington went for a good spell.
He resumed over 1200m at Seymour with a solid fifth when carrying a big weight before returning to the stable's home base in Sydney.
He returned from a let-up over 1250m at Canterbury Park where he sat fifth but could only hold that place to the line in what was a dash home.
Last start, Broadcast raced here for the first time as he stepped up to 1300m but after drawing off the track sat back and wide throughout.
He got home soundly, finishing a 4.4 length eighth behind Trauma.
After jumping from gate 14 last time he has gate three today and will be able to enjoy a good run off what looks to be a strong pace.
He is a winner to 1440m and with a good speed on will be back and hitting the line hard.
Stablemate Aberrant rates highly in the race on his form from last campaign but the amount of speed on up front will determine his chances fresh up.
The colt also raced in Melbourne last time in, and also won in town, claiming a 1400m Lakeside win when leading throughout.
He then was fourth over a mile at Sale before being turned out.
He resumes here as a three-year-old with a light weight and a good draw.
The colt rates highly but after a good spell might need a run to bring him on.
Another who will be on the speed is the Noel Mayfield Smith trained Famous Seamus, who is going for his third straight success.
The gelding was a strong debut winner at Gosford in maiden class then scored at Canterbury Park latest when leading throughout for a head win.
Today he meets a tougher line up but drops in weight and has drawn to be prominent again throughout.
The Kris Lees-trained mare Next The Universe turned in a solid fresh up effort and despite a wide gate should be getting home hard.
The mare raced consistently in town last campaign before breaking through for a deserved win over 1200m at Randwick where she came from midfield to score.
After a good spell she resumed over 1200m here and after getting back and turning clear last she found the line well for a 3.3 length fifth.
Although drawn wide today, the mare will be getting back and running home hard so the good pace will suit.
Riding To Win made a run around the field and hit the front fresh before fading to finish 10th, 1.5 lengths behind Broadcast who finished eighth.
Riding To Win will be much fitter for that and unbeaten second up it would be no surprise to see him give a big sight again here.
