Track specialist Zachary Quack should give his backers a big sight in the final race of a marathon card at Geelong today.
There are 10 races on the all weather track and Zachary Quack, who has never won away from the synthetic surface, looks well placed in the last – the Centrebet Supervic Handicap (race 10).
The race is a 1200m BM78 which is the same course, class and distance Zachary Quack succeeded at last start.
Prepared by Heath Conners on the course, Zachary Quack resumed here over 1300m and led until into the straight before fading to finish fourth.
Same trip here next time though, he improved on the run and led throughout, running away to score a 2.2 length win.
Back to 1200m three weeks later in a BM72 he had 59kg and crossed from the wide gate to sit second.
Working to the lead in the straight he kicked strongly but was swamped and finished third.
Last start, up to a BM78 here over 1200m, he was ridden up to hold a position and settled just off the lead before angling out and joining in three wide on the bend.
In a great fight to the line he lifted best over the final stages and grabbed a last stride win over King Cotton.
Zackary Quack rises 2kg for today's race but tackles the same grade and trip here from a perfect gate.
He has carried weight before, and has a great record at the trip.
At the course, all five of his career wins have come here and he looks a leading chance of making it six today.
The Stephen Theodore trained Bon Genre is flying this time in and looks a big danger.
The gelding resumed over 1000m at Cranbourne and after settling just off the pace ran on well to score a strong 2.2 length win.
He then tackled 1000m again at Bairnsdale where he settled fifth and was poised to pounce off the turn before running on for another good win.
Up to 1200m next time, on heavy ground at Cranbourne, he had a big weight and sat third throughout but didn't ping like he did in the two previous wins.
Perhaps the big weight in the heavy ground dulled his finish.
Last start he raced in this class up the straight at Flemington. Sitting outside the leader up the crown of the course, he fought on well when there to be run down to finish third, beaten less than a length behind Goldstone.
Although he tackles the same grade here he meets easier company with the same weight.
He has drawn ideally and on his recent form will be hard to hold out here.
King Cotton is racing well and will be well fancied to turn the tables on Zachary Quack today after their clash last time.
The Merv McKenzie trained gelding raced here in this grade over 1000m two back and after settling midfield he ran on hard for an impressive 3.5 length win.
Carrying 61kg last time here over 1200m, he raced on the speed and was among three vying for the race down the straight but was outbobbed by Zachary Quack on the line.
He meets the winner 2kg better today after the claim and while racing so well looks a big hope again.
Sabres was the other runner in that tight finish behind Zachary Quack last time when third, beaten three-quarters of a length.
The lightly raced colt is fitter again for the two runs back and gets another chance this time.
