Amazing Run To Continue

3 minute read

In form galloper Amazing Albert can continue her good form in today's Sky Gold Ray Hadley 30 Years In Radio Cup (race 7) at Port Macquarie.

Amazing Albert, although up in class for this Class 3 Handicap over 1200m, looks a leading chance on her good soft track record and will take catching again.

Prepared by Bob Milligan at Taree, Amazing Albert broke through for her maiden win over this journey fourth up last campaign here in slow ground before two thereabouts runs when fourth and sixth before placing at her last two before a spell.

She resumed this time in at Grafton in a Benchmark 55 and after settling midfield and wide pressed ahead to try to get closer and sat second.

She loomed up despite the tough run and kicked strongly but was grabbed right on the line, finishing a gutsy second.

Returning to Grafton for a Class 3 handicap over 1100m, she settled back before circling the field four wide on the turn.

Continuing her run she hit the line well but could manage only second, again beaten narrowly, this time by a long neck.

Up to 1200m in heavy ground at Newcastle, she dropped back to a Class 1 race and proved far too classy.

She drew an inside gate and wasn't the best away but quickly mustered speed and took up the running.

Kicking strongly around the turn, she cleared out to score by 4.5 lengths.

The filly takes on a tougher race today and also has a bigger weight.

But she has a good record in the conditions and is a winner and placegetter at the course from her two tries.

The filly has drawn a good gate today and will take running down again.

Alcancia drops significantly in grade for today's race and should improve sharply.

The filly, prepared by Jenny Graham at the course, hasn't won for over 12 months but is racing in the easiest grade she has contested for some time.

She resumed at Taree in the autumn and after covering ground boxed on well to place.

She then raced over 1100m at Canterbury and didn't have a lot of luck, held up for a run before hitting the line well to finish a 1.5 length fourth.

Up sharply in grade for the Listed P.J. Bell Stakes, she wasn't the best away and mustered speed to settle midfield but was caught deep throughout.

Turning very wide the early effort told but she tried hard to finish 10th, beaten 3.2 lengths behind Ever The Same in a strong form race.

Last start, in the Listed Darley Crown at Hawkesbury, she started from the inside gate and settled midfield.

Turning there, she battled home to finish at the tail, beaten six lengths behind More Strawberries.

The filly faces a big rise in weight today and has also drawn wide but drops significantly in class.

Her best form is on heavy tracks and she can improve out of sight today.

Secret Affiars may be worth another chance after disappointing at Taree last time when fifth.

She had placed at her previous two runs and with a good soft track record and the inside draw she can bounce back.

Speeding To Win, also prepared on the course, seems to save his best for here and from a good gate looks an each way chance.
