The ultra consistent Snip Of Magic will look to capitalise on some good recent form when lining up in the first race on the program at Quirindi today.
Resuming with a last start third at Muswellbrook over 900m, Snip Of Magic steps up to the 1000m today where he has had the 10 starts for one win and four placings.
The four-year-old gelding did not have a great deal of luck first up, carried very wide approaching the turn and forced even wider when rounding the turn, but hit the line well enough for a close third.
Top country jockey Greg Ryan stays on board and in a small field is likely to not be far away from barrier 5.
With the track currently rated a slow 7, Snip Of Magic has had the 3 starts in similar conditions, finishing in the placings on all three occasions which includes a win.
The Time Mcintosh runner has now finished in the placings his last five outings and should prove very hard to beat in this based on recent form.
Elsalinda resumes having struggled in tougher races at the back end of last preparation. Gets in well with the 3kg claim for apprentice jockey and looks the main danger.
The four-year-old mare has won when fresh previously and expecting her to be right in the finish of this one.
Budgee Boy also looks a threat, following up a win with two second placings, the most recent coming at Dubbo over this trip.
Likely to push forward from the inside draw and will certainly be in this for a long way.
These look the main chances and expecting the winner to come from one of these three. Chiliad looks the best of the rest, backing up quickly after a fair effort at Muswellbrook last start.
He is on the quick back up today and winkers go back on for the blinkers and would not be surprised to see him somewhere in the finish.
