Elklands Hard To Beat At Corowa

3 minute read

Elklands will once again take plenty of beating when lining up in a Class 2 at Corowa today (1300m).

The four-year-old mare followed up three second placings with a last start win at Albury, and rates very well on weight adjusted Timeform ratings against these.

The daughter of Magnus only needs to hold her form to be very hard to beat today and Simon Miller who has a good record on the mare will stay on board.

From barrier 7, Elklands is likely to push forward and settle up on the speed and dropping back only slightly in trip today will take plenty of running down.

Contemplation was good at Albury last start when running second over 1175m and has claims here on the back of that effort.

Has failed to win a race in 610 days now but on her two runs this time in is worth plenty of consideration in this.

Goes up in trip today where her record is only fair but would not be surprised to see her fight out the finish again.

Strada’s Diamond comes out of the same race as Contemplation, running third on that occasion. Over a year since she has tasted victory but the blinkers go off and the extra trip may well suit today.

The lightly raced My Buddy Ripper finished last preparation with a win before resuming well when third at Albury last start. Clearly has some ability and expect him to have come on since his first up run.

Drawn to get the rails run and is certainly one to include among the chances today.

Outside of these there does not appear to be many strong chances. Craft Show was okay when resuming at Albury last start but was poor last preparation and place looks best here.

Elklands is the one in form out of these and after a good win last start expecting her to go on with it today.
