Berimbau To Take Beating At Kembla

3 minute read

Berimbau should be breaking maiden status in Race 2 at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

The John O’Shea-trained filly wasn’t far off making all last start when second at Canterbury against the Gai Waterhouse-trained Festivity.

Form out of the race has since held up well via the winner and Berimbau seemingly finds herself contesting an easier race at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

The Stay Clean Carpet cleaning Maiden (1200m) shapes as an underwhelming affair where on disclosed form, Berimbau has her rivals covered.

The Shamardal filly should be open to further improvement as well third run from a spell.

All signs point to Berimbau breaking maiden status at Kembla Grange today.

The Greg Hickman-trained Centro Superior shapes as the main danger on disclosed form.

Centro Superior caught the eye late on debut at Gosford last start and gave every indication he would appreciate the extra ground on offer here.

Four debutants take their place in the second event at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

Figtree based on trial form looks the pick of them.

The Gwenda Markwell-trained gelding ran second in a trial at this course on May 7.

He should enjoy a cosy run in transit from barrier 2.

Racing manners and maturity will have a large bearing on what he can produce but the trial suggests Figtree can deliver a cheeky debut showing.

Koizora could be a big improver at career start two.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly reportedly didn’t handle the rain affected ground on debut at Gosford and was a beaten horse a long way from home.

She should be better off here on firmer footing with race experience under her belt.

Overall though, Berimbau appears hard to beat.

From a wide draw, expect jockey Kerrin McEvoy to have her sitting just outside the lead before dashing away for a maiden success.
