Patrick Ready For More Cessnock Success

3 minute read

Little Patrick can hit the ground running at his stable debut in Tuesday’s Cessnock Village Motor Inn Class 1 (1350m).

Little Patrick on Tuesday has his first start for David Pfieffer after breaking maiden status at this course and distance back in May.

The gelding on that occasion bolted in by nearly six lengths.

While not up against a great deal, Little Patrick finds a race at Cessnock on Tuesday where he can continue progressing through the grades.

Little Patrick’s soft maiden win yielded a Timeform figure of 77 which has him rating well clear of his rivals here on weight adjusted figures.

The Street Sense three-year-old on that occasion was ridden more positively than what he had been, sent forward to sit outside the lead by jockey Robert Thompson and from there not looking back.

Expect the same again here from an inside draw.

At the time of acceptances, the Cessnock Vintage Motor Inn Class 1 Handicap looked a most suitable contest for Little Patrick.

His main danger was shaping as the honest Here Comes The Sun who has since been scratched.

On disclosed form, there appears little in the way of genuine opposition to the lightly-raced sort.

Welsh Rose while inconsistent possesses claims on best form which includes a maiden win at Gosford earlier in her prep.

The mare’s form figure has declined in two runs since but should be bouncing back dropping to country company.

Although not the strongest maiden, Jack’s Kiss is worth some thought after making all at Grafton last start.

It was a performance which suggests the penny may have dropped.

She strikes a tougher assignment here however with nothing on her back after a 4kg claim, the Murtajill filly could take plenty of catching.

There is an 11 pound difference between Jack’s Kiss and Little Patrick though on their last start performances meaning the Colt Prosser-trained filly has a lot of ground to make up on the anticipated favourite in Race 6 at Cessnock.
