Resistant lines up in the Moe Mile well fancied to claim the event having placed in each of his runs back from a spell.
The four-year-old’s latest placing came at Caulfield over 1400m when third behind Trust In A Gust.
He stuck to his task well on that occasion and a minor placing behind Trust In A Gust reads particularly well considering what that gelding has gone on to produce having claimed the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes – Group 1 Toorak Handicap double.
On Thursday, Resistant and profiles very well third run from a spell rising to a mile in the Moe Mile.
The son of Choisir rates highest amongst this field on weight adjusted 50 day Timeform figures and the Mick Price-trained is open to further improvement based on a master Timeform figure of 105 returned when fourth in the Bendigo Guineas (1400m).
There is even the possibility he can build upon this figure.
This suggestion is being made based on the fact Resistant was gelded in his latest spell.
The gelding has performed well over a mile in each of his two attempts at the trip.
Resistant has settled handy in each of his runs this campaign and the results have been positive.
From barrier 10 after scratchings, Brad Rawiller will likely roll forward and settle in the first four.
The pair should enjoy an ideal run in transit and should have too much on his rivals.
De Little Engine resumed well at Sandown and was only narrowly beaten when closing well into second.
