Dousaichi is working into his campaign well and can take out the Channel 7 Plate at Ipswich third run from a spell.
The Trevor Bailey-trained gelding has produced two solid runs on the Gold Coast since returning from a spell, the latest a half length second in a Class 2 over 1400m.
Dousaichi drops in trip and rises in grade for the Channel 7 Class 3 Plate at Ipswich on Wednesday.
The Not A Single Doubt gelding meets some handy opposition however the four-year-old seemingly has the greatest sense of timing about anything in the field.
He is one of three obvious class horses in the event and a last start second at the Gold Coast has him rating highly amongst the field.
Dousaichi is capable of improving on the effort based on his master Timeform rating of 92 yielded when second at Newcastle during June 2013.
While that is an old figure, Dousaichi did run to a Timeform rating of 79 at the end of his last preparation.
The gelding is a versatile sort capable of settling handy or being ridden quietly to good effect.
It means apprentice Bridget Grylls has options from barrier 6.
Grylls’ 2kg claim also brings Dousaichi in nicely at the weights.
Bodega Negra is the class horse of the race resuming after a fair to middling winter prep against some strong opposition.
He has been readied for this with three trials and on best form would be beating these quite easily.
The gelding tends to get back in his races however which isn’t usually conducive to success at Ipswich and despite three trials, will likely be soft in condition first up over 1350m.
The races loses a bit of depth with the scratching of Unadultered however Dharavi and Requirement shape as winning hopes.
Dharavi was only beaten a long neck at the Gold Coast and was held up at a crucial point around the turn.
Required was a last start winner over 1400m and is worth keeping safe.
Dousaichi has the best profile though heading into the Channel 7 Class 3 Plate (1350m) at Ipswich on Wednesday.
