Lucky Meteor returns from a break and looks to continue him amazing winning run at Grafton today in the Summer Dash.
Lucky Meteor went to the paddock in reasonable form, winning a lazy six on the bounce after running second first up.
That first up run is no concern, he was terrific that day on heavy going, and perhaps most important is that his form was able to spiral upwards throughout the campaign.
That upward trending form culminated in a peak performance at the back of the campaign at Bowraville and that curve is well illustrated in this graph.
The black line shows the steady improvement of Lucky Meteor last campaign and the graph below that shows another key positive for his chances today.
Those big blue bars show that he's an on-pace horse and in a small field like the one he looks a strong chance of controlling the speed.
Given that, he's going to be mighty hard to stop as he looks to string together a seventh consecutive victory.
Dangers today come from the Neil Godbolt yard in the form of Yupik and All About Willy.
Yupik was well held last time but had been a solid winner the start prior and that form rates to measure up here.
He's doesn't quite match Lucky Meteor on the ratings, or on Racing And Sports' new Web Spread which you can see here.
The key differences between the pair, who match up evenly on peak rating, the good run index, and market expectation, are winning percentage and overall performance, which ties in with that strike rate.
Effectively, the edge to Lucky Meteor comes from the fact that he wins more races and that might be the difference today.
Lucky Meteor is an on-speed winner and that makes him the one to be with.
All About Willy is the second Godbolt runner and the other in the race that comes under notice.
He's a useful performer fresh but he will improve for the first up run.
He went for a spell in fine form himself and certainly has to be considered when playing exotics today.
Best of luck and happy punting.
