Lester to Be Home First In The Last

3 minute read

Lester’s Home brings some strong form lines into the final event of the program at Cessnock on Monday.

The Tony Newing-trained gelding has been racing against some strong company this campaign and was last seen working home well into fourth when contesting a heat of the Provincial Championship Qualifier at Kembla Grange.

His form prior to that had also been solid with close up results behind the likes of Shiraz and Happy Clapper reading well.

It in particular reads well in what looks an underwhelming Benchmark 69 Handicap (1350m) at Cessnock to round out proceedings.

The gelding on 12 month and 50 day weight adjusted ratings rates highly in the field.

Expect the gelding to settle midfield and be hard to hold out late.

Forewarned has returned in good order this campaign having accumulated a win and three minor placings from four starts.

He should be prominent throughout with nothing but another forward showing expected here.

Reunited has been fair in three runs this campaign, the latest coming in stronger company at the Gold Coast.

He will appreciate a class drop and should be around peak fitness fourth run from a spell.

The Explorer shapes as the other likely contender.

The gelding has been given a let up since taking on metropolitan events through the summer.

He looks suited dropping back in distance and grade following a month off and should enjoy all of the favours in transit from an inside barrier.

Lester’s Home looks the pick of them though in the Coca Cola Benchmark 69 Handicap (1350m).
