Polynikes Chasing One Of Many Victories

3 minute read

Polynikes can improve on a solid first up display in the opening leg of the quaddie at Ipswich on Thursday.

The Brian Guy-trained three-year-old resumed at the Gold Coast late last month where he finished third over 1200m.

Polynikes on that occasion was running on well after a less than ideal time in transit.

18 days later, he rises in Class and distance for the Enjoy Sirromet Wines Class 3 Handicap (1350m) at Ipswich.

A small field of eight has assembled for the contest with a majority of the runners possessing genuine winning claims.

Polynikes gets the nod though with a number of positive factors in his favour.

The son of Hidden Dragon has seemingly returned in good order this campaign having won a trial in readiness at the Gold Coast before placing first up at the course over 1200m.

He will strip fitter for the outing and based on a master Timeform figure from a previous campaign, is open to improvement on the run.

Polynikes was also gelded during his latest spell which in theory should result in a more ‘focused’ version of the three-year-old this preparation.

Jockey Matt McGuren jumps aboard for the first time and from barrier 4, should slot in behind the leaders with the anticipated early speed drawn inside.

Already a winner at the course and distance, Polynikes looks a great chance of building on those records at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Water Boy was a convincing winner of the $100,000 BRC Maiden Plate at Doomben on the same day Polynikes resumed at the Gold Coast.

It was a soft win and clearly a career best effort.

The gelding has done an excellent job through a lengthy maiden preparation and can keep on winning here.

Skytastic has held form well this campaign which has included two solid displays at this course in his past three starts.

The son of Choisir tends to get back and will be running on strongly.

Right To Roam is another holding form well while Comacina was running on fairly first up in a Doomben Class 3 21 days ago.

The Dane Shadow gelding is another who will be fitter second up and running on late.
