Leucura To Continue Winning Run At Wagga

3 minute read

Leucura has been racing in good form of late and looks hard to go past when stepping out at Wagga today.

The Chris Heywood-trained runner comes into the Ferndale Distributers Benchmark 70 Handicap (1000m) off two very good wins at this C/D and despite going up in class looks hard to beat.

Leucura Possesses an outstanding record at the course and over the trip and winning jockey Nick Heywood goes back on board and claims a much needed 1.5kg claim.

The five-year-old gelding possesses an outstanding record on heavy tracks, winning all three previous outings on genuine heavy tracks and on best form he rates very well against these.

Drawn a bit awkward in barrier 8 and is likely to settle just off the speed and should prove too good for many of these.

Stablemate Lautrec resumes having run well for the most part last campaign and the nine-year-old has a very good first up record having won 3/6.

Best form has come over the 1000m dash and despite only winning 2/13 at the course his best form measures up well here and he is certainly worth keeping safe.

Winning jockey Rebeka Prest stays on board today and with a decent record on rain affected tracks should handle the heavy 10 today.

Not quite sure he will be able to match his stablemate but expect him to be right in the finish once again.

Lady Henrietta also comes into consideration having featured in the finish her last four outings which includes a win at Albury two back.

Held on well at Canberra last start when third behind Sheezsingle and on what she has produced in recent times shapes up as a big danger here.

In this small field will get a terrific run on the speed from barrier 4, however her record at the course and over the trip is not the best having placed in 1/5 over the 1000m.

Goes up only slightly in class on her last start run at Canberra and is certainly one to keep safe.

Other chances include Iza Star who has not been far away of late and Dougary Girl who won just two starts back at Corowa.
