Mr Luck To Go Back To Back

3 minute read

Trainer Desmond Koh looks to have unearthed quite the promising type in Mr Luck and he appears well placed to notch up back to back wins in the final event at Singapore this evening.

While failing to set the track alight in his two trials in the lead up, the son of Kitten's Joy was never in doubt when leading throughout to score on debut over 1000m.

Ridden by Benny Woodworth the four-year-old jumped away fairly on the inside before mustering speed to find the front.

Shadowed on the outside by the John O'Hara trained Prechagorda, Mr Luck held his spot along the rail and always travelled strongly.

Shaken up passing the 300m, Mr Luck quickly beat off Prechagorda and drew two lengths clear.

Full of running inside the 200m, he drew further in front and went to the line to score by three-and-a-half lengths.

With only three races held on the polytrack it's hard to get a good guide as to how fast/slow the track was playing however when taking a line through Kam's Comet, Mr Luck is clearly an above average maiden winner.

Comparatively not a great deal separated the two on raw times and while sometimes dangerous to do so, the extensive beaten margins confirmed Mr Luck's impressive performance.

Mr Luck defeated third placegetter Mr Jackson by five lengths with a further three lengths back to eighth.

Rising sharply in grade to a Class 4 event, the four-year-old is required to take that next step however he appears more than capable.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings his debut win leaves him well placed and while line up against more seasoned opposition, he appears set for grander targets.

Benny Woodworth continues his association with the four-year-old and is expected to press forward from the wide draw.

Super Joy, You Da One, Pratt Street and Supersonicsurprise appear the other likely front-runners.

With a three-and-a-half length winning margin up his sleeve, if able to use that to his full advantage Mr Luck should prove hard to beat again.

While never easy making the rise from maiden company, as touched on previously Mr Luck appears more than your average maiden winner and can take that next step here.

The Mark Walker trained The Cosmos has finished second at four of his last six starts and obviously has to be respected with Manoel Nunes linking back aboard.

A winner of two of his 13 starts, The Cosmos has only missed the money on four occasions and just once since being transferred to Singapore.

His latest effort at this course and distance saw him only narrowly beaten and while he has been a punters' nightmare, he is more than capable on best form.

From the middle draw he looks to get a lovely run in transit just off the speed and if able to hold his form he should be right around the mark.

The Theo Kieser trained Supersonicsurprise chases a hat-trick and while lined up against tougher company, you always have to respect winning form.

A dominant winner at this course and distance from his last two starts, the four-year-old is clearly in great form and deserves his chance against this company.

Much like The Cosmos he has drawn to get the run of the race and appears capable of taking that next step.

Of the rest the Cliff Brown trained You Da One appears the next best.

A winner of three of his 36 starts the winner's stall has often eluded him however he has placed on a further 15 occasions and is rarely far away.

He has placed in seven of 11 attempts at this track and from the rails draw he cannot be taken lightly — a must for all multiples.

Good luck and happy punting.
