Torquay A Strong Winning Chance At Taree

3 minute read

Torquay has been in terrific form of late and will be hard to hold out again when lining up at Taree today.

The Paul Perry-trained runner lines up in the Gloucester Advocate Benchmark 55 Handicap (1600m) on the back of two wins, both coming at this course.

Torquay carries the 61.5kg but still looks well placed against his rivals today and goes up to the mile where he has a solid record.

Tony Cavallo who is undefeated from two rides remains on board and would not be surprised to see him settle a bit closer today over the mile.

The Perry stable has been in terrific form of late and Cavallo is riding at 24% for the stable at present.

The one concern is the big weight however he still looks very well suited against his rivals today and looks hard to go past.

Lady Corleone also carries a big weight of 61kg and comes into this on the back of a last start win at Orange over the mile.

Best form has generally come over the mile and Bobby El-Issa who rode last start sticks with her today.

Fourth up now, the Marc Conners-trained runner should be nearing peak fitness and would expect her to be around the mark again here.

Should settle just off the speed from barrier 7 and if she can carry the big weight she should be around the mark again.

Meishou also comes into consideration on the back of a last start win at this C/D and form for the most part has been good this campaign.

Both outings at the course have been good and he tends to do his best racing over the mile.

Chris O’Brien takes the ride for the first time and he certainly looks pretty well suited again today off his last start win.

Art Delago was disappointing at Grafton last time out but was far from disgraced at this course prior to that and should appreciate the step up to the mile.

Drawn to get a much better run today and shapes up as one of the each way chances with Robert Thompson on board along with Fired Up who has been racing better than recent form suggests.

Good Luck!
