Timeform Preview - Pakenham August 23

3 minute read

El Dorado Mine has been racing well this campaign and looks suited when lining up in the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m) at Pakenham Synthetic today.

Mick Price Picture: Racing and Sports

Returning with a win over the 1200m at this course, El Dorado Mine has been very good in three runs since and was only narrowly beaten over 1300m on the synthetic at Geelong last start.

Does not possess the best record over the 1400m journey but has shown good ability on synthetic tracks this campaign and from the very wide barrier will push forward and take up the lead.

Dwayne Dunn takes the ride for the first time and fifth up today, the Mick Price-trained runner should be at peak fitness.

His form this campaign measures up very well against these today and he rates well on weight adjusted ratings.

Will certainly put himself into the race and he shapes up as the one they have to beat if he can run up to his best form.

Pure Addiction has come back in terrific form this campaign, winning well over 1200m at this course before running a very narrow third last time out.

Goes up to the 1400m today where he has paced in 2/4 previously and having carried the big weights in both outings this time in the 61kg should not pose too many troubles today.

Might find himself a touch closer over the 1400m than he has been recently and Matthew Allen who has a good record on the horse remains on board.

Placed his only previous third up outing and certainly shapes up as a very big danger to El Dorado Mine based on recent form.

Tempt Me returned in terrific order with a win over the 1200m at this course last start and also steps up to the 1400m today.

Remains in the same class for this but will be required to carry the 60.5kg, 2kg more than his last start narrow win.

Relatively lightly raced for a five-year-old with a very solid career record and is certainly open to further improvement second up.

Expect him to not be far away in the run from barrier 9 and having run well over the 1400m in the past should have no issues with the extra trip on offer today.

Paco Express rounds out the main chances, having returned with a solid fourth behind Tempt Me over 1200m here last start.

Form last campaign was very good and with Craig Newitt to take the ride for the first time he will roll forward and take plenty of running down.

Good luck!
