Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Hawkesbury, Flemington, Ipswich, Northam and Gawler

HAWKESBURY: RACE 7 @ 8:50 AM

RAF ATTACK (10) was backed as though unbeatable in the Port Macquarie Cup last start but after leading for home he gave in rather meekly. Back sharply in trip which is in his favour. Drops 3kgs and can bounce back as his best figures measure right up in this field. Winx's little sister CITY OF LIGHTS (9) ran a nice race first-up in the Tibbie then started favourite in a Group 3 at Caulfield last start but disappointed. Better placed back home and the blinkers go on today. Expecting a much better run. ROBUSTO (5) got a long way back in the Five Diamonds Prelude at Randwick last start and failed to figure. Beaten less than two lengths by Cepheus in the Rowley Mile here in August which is a decent form reference. BERKSHIRE SHADOW (3) didn't appreciate being ridden in front last time out so forget the run. Good effort to finish midfield in the Epsom the run before - big chance with a repeat of that performance. RUSTIC STEEL (1) can improve at the third run back.
SELECTIONS: Raf Attack an each-way special in an open race.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 8 @ 5:10 PM

The Group 1 VRC Oaks. Keen to be with POWERS OF OPAL (5) who ran second in the G2 Wakeful on Saturday which is traditionally the best Oaks platform. She was backed off the map there and loomed up as the winner but couldn't reel in the winner off a slow tempo. She looks ideally suited to 2500m now and can exact revenge. HARLEM QUEEN (3) comes through the G1 Spring Champion, finishing fourth there. That form was okay in the Derby and she must be respected with Shinn booked. TREASURETHE MOMENT (1) won the Wakeful on Saturday and wasn't stopping late at all. Tricky draw but she's hard to knock. PLEASURE ARTIST (6) was fifth in the Spring Champion and has claims while RAG QUEEN (4) could be an improver to 2500m.
SELECTIONS: Powers Of Opal to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 6 @ 3:02 AM

LA PETITE MAISON (1) peaks for the premier barn off a heavily bet placing here. He will use an inside barrier and rates to go one better. Stablemate GRAND METEOR (6) improved at Toowoomba and has more up her sleeve. She also maps well and fitter is a hope. MILTON ROAD (2) wasn't beaten far at Eagle Farm in tougher off a near miss here prior. In good hands and is suited at this level. MIXED SPICE (7) is better than the form line suggests. Steps back a grade and maps well off a freshen. The 3kg claim brings her into it. NEW YORK GAL (8) will be fitter and is knocking on the door. Look for her late.
SELECTIONS: La Petite Maison appeals.

NORTHAM: RACE 3 @ 5:58 PM

LINE OF THOUGHT (6) resumes from a 71-day let-up today and will be fitter for a trial coming into this. She was strong to the line last start over 1400m in stronger company and if she's able to run up to those figures in this event, she'll be very hard to beat. GINGER AND TONIC (7) will be fitter for two trials coming into this after a handy 2YO campaign. She was going around at long odds in those efforts, though this is a much more suitable event and it wouldn't surprise to see her run over the top of them late in the piece. MATSOKA (3) is better than he showed first-up and can improve. STAR PROPHET (1) in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Line Of Thought.

GAWLER: RACE 2 @ 1:36 PM

MYSTICAL WISDOM (10) lengthened nicely to get close to the winner when resuming in town at the latest. Is sure to have come on with that run under the belt and now gets the services of gun hoop Jake Toeroek. Deserves a lot more respect this time and is a leading player. STIRRUP CUP (11) has savaged the line in his last two and should be ready to peak now. Draws to settle closer and carries a feather on his back with the 3kg claimer on again. Main danger. MAHENO (5) finds the maiden win elusive but has shown some positive signs. Carries a fitness edge and Holder sticking reads favourably. Can give this a shake. CAPE SIZE (1) has gone back to the trials after failing to threaten first-up. Wary of sharp improvement with the rise in trip.
SELECTIONS: Mystical Wisdom to win.
