Stephen Marsh is rueing his run of bad luck with the exciting filly She Brings Joy.
“She drew the rank outside in her first run and she’s done the same second-up,” the Cambridge trainer said.
She Brings Joy got home late for third at Te Rapa on debut and Marsh has been left with no choice but to again start the daughter of Sebring from the widest gate of all in the NZ Insurance Pearl Series Race at Tauranga on Friday.“I’ve got to run her, I really want to get her into the Eight Carat Classic and this is the only way there,” he said.
“I want to give her a run right-handed as well and the timing is right.”Marsh has been sold on She Brings Joy, who has been working in fine style ahead of her Tauranga test, for quite some time.
“I love the filly to bits,” he said. “She showed us a lot early on and she won her first trial over 650 metres as a two-year-old here at Cambridge.“We’ve been patient with her and her first-up run was very, very good. Her closing sectionals were outstanding.”
She Brings Joy is raced by her breeder Kevin Hickman, whose Valachi Downs operation will offer her half-brother by Savabeel during the Premier Sale at Karaka in 2017.
