The daughter of Tavistock will go into the Listed Manawatu ITM Anzac 1550 off the back of her resuming effort at Pukekohe where she finished third behind Martiniz Special and the subsequent Group placegetter Camino Rocoso.

“That was a very good run and she just came to the end of it the last bit,” said Graham Richardson, who trains the four-year-old with Gavin Parker.

“She has definitely improved since then and the Slow 7 track should be perfect for her.”

Bred and raced by Kevin Hickman, Tessastock is from the family of Humidor, who won last season’s Gr.3 Manawatu Classic on the track before transferring to Darren Weir’s stable, for whom he won last month’s Gr.1 Australian Cup.

Richardson and Parker will also have runners at the Avondale meeting on Tuesday, among them Incantesimo in the AJC Governor General’s Cup.

The lightly-tried filly hasn’t raced since she came to grief in the Gr.1 New Zealand Oaks. Michael McNab will again ride the daughter of Per Incanto.

“She’s out of her class in the Rating 85 mile because I didn’t want to run her over 2100 metres – she only had half a run in the Oaks,” Richardson said.

“She pulled up okay after that and I’ve been quite pleased with her, but after they’ve had a fall you never quite know how they’re going to go next time.

“Hopefully, she’ll be fine and get her confidence back up.”
