Tip Of The Day: 20th September 2024

3 minute read

Both of Friday’s selections race during the evening meeting at Kempton Park, where there is plenty of competitive all-weather action…

Today's horse racing tips.

In the seven-furlong Unibet Zero% Mission/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (4:00),Marco Botti's Prince Of India is currently available at 12/1 after a promising debut effort. The Wootton Bassett colt out-ran market expectations (50/1) to finish fourth in an eleven runner course and distance contest a fortnight ago, racing prominently under Harry Davies and just unable to quicken in the closing stages – two-and-three-quarter lengths behind the exciting Juddmonte-owned winner Brave Mission. Prince Of India is one of only two in the top five in the market with all-weather experience and the colt boasts a nice pedigree, out of an Aidan O'Brien-trained half-sister to multiple Black Type performers.

PRINCE OF INDIA – EACH WAY – 12/1

It could pay to oppose the favourite in the six-furlong Juddmonte British EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (4:35), with second-choice Sands Of Marra fancied to out-class this field. Ollie Sangster's colt made his debut at Salisbury in early June, racing keenly in the early stages but hold on for a fair fourth behind Arabian Sun. The son of Sands Of Mali recorded a maiden success in a Windsor novice stakes on his second attempt in taking style, despite still showing some signs of greenness – keen and drifted left in the closing furlong. Sands Of Marra was given a significant class rise on his third start, contesting the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood but ran his race in the pre-parade before the contest, sweating up heavily and raced accordingly – always behind and never in the mix. A return to easier competition will suit and the colt appears capable of defying the seven pounds that he gives to the favourite.

SANDS OF MARRA – WIN – 9/4
