Grendisar heads 28 Winter Derby

Grendisar is among 28 acceptors for the £100,000 Group Three coral.co.uk Winter Derby over 10 furlongs at Lingfield Park on Saturday, March 14.

The Marco Botti-trained five-year-old got the better of Lamar (James Tate), Cloudscape (John Gosden) and Coral Easter Classic hero Grandeur (Jeremy Noseda) in the Listed coral.co.uk Winter Derby Trial over the course and distance on February 21.

Other notables going forward include globetrotting star Side Glance (Andrew Balding), last year's Ladbrokes Mile victor Captain Cat (Roger Charlton) and Parish Hall (Jim Bolger IRE), winner of the Group One Dewhurst Stakes in 2011.

A maximum of 14 runners can take part in the coral.co.uk Winter Derby, which is a Fast-Track Qualifier for the £200,000 Coral Easter Classic over the course and distance on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, April 3.

Horses qualify for the seven championship contests on the £1.1-million All-Weather Championships Finals Day (Good Friday, April 3, 2015) by winning a specified "Fast Track Qualifier" or running in a minimum of three races at Britain's five All-Weather tracks, Lingfield Park, Southwell and Wolverhampton, owned by ARC, The Jockey Club's Kempton Park and Chelmsford City, between October 30 and March 30.

Alternatively, one of the three qualifying runs can come at Dubai's Meydan Racecourse (dirt) or on the All-Weather surfaces at Ireland's Dundalk and the French tracks of Cagnes-sur-Mer, Chantilly and Deauville.
