David Pipe has raised the possibility of Kings Palace reverting to hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival.
Not seen since finishing 11th in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, for which he was sent off favourite, he has since undergone a breathing procedure.
Rated 5lb lower over hurdles than fences, the eight-year-old has a multitude of options but whether he runs before the big meeting is still up in the air.
"Kings Palace is in good form but I'm not sure whether he will have a run before the Festival or go straight there," said PIpe.
"It depends on the ground. There are no targets for him there. He could run over hurdles or fences.
"He had a breathing op after the Paddy Power."
Fellow Pond House inmate Dynaste is set to head for the Ascot Chase next week, teeing up another clash with his old nemesis Silviniaco Conti.
"The plan is to run him at Ascot next weekend, all being well," said Pipe.
"He has got to bounce back. Even though we didn't expect him to win last time over hurdles, he did stop quite quickly.
"We will probably try a set of blinkers on him and see how he goes."
