A top-class hurdler, Yanworth made a seamless transition to the bigger obstacles when beating the useful performer Sternrubin by two lengths at the Devon venue.

He is giving upwards of 6lb to all of his rivals, with Paul Nicholls' four-year-old Chameron in receipt of 15lb.

The French import, who is owned in a partnership by Sir Alex Ferguson among others, won both of his races in France and has a lofty rating of 149, only 4lb lower than Yanworth.

"I was delighted with Yanworth's first run down there last month and I've been happy with him at home since," King told www.alankingracing.co.uk.

"Barry Geraghty came over and sat on him last Thursday and he was happy too, so it's all systems go for Exeter.

"It's a good track for novices, the timing is right and the two-and-a-half-mile trip should be ideal.

"I thought the more that first race progressed, the more he warmed to his task, so we are looking forward to this next step in his education."
