Cruise control for Haydock backers

3 minute read

No Cruise Yet can make the most of a slight dip in class for the Tim Molony Handicap Chase at Haydock.

Sam England's charge was last seen coming home third in the Eider Chase at Newcastle, where he bumped into a well-treated rival in Kitty's Light.

Beaten nine and a half lengths in third, No Cruise Yet was 2lb wrong at the weights and raced far too keenly, with his early efforts eventually telling in the finish as he dropped away on the run to the line.

A narrow winner over the same extended three and a half miles he faces here back in November, No Cruise Yet looks progressive and could still have something to give off his current mark of 116.

Tuddenham Green was well beaten tried in Grade Two company when last seen and refreshed from a break he can make his presence felt in the Racing TV Juvenile Hurdle.

A hurdles winner at the first attempt back in October, Tuddenham Green then took second in a Listed contest at Wetherby, prompting Alan King to raise his sights at Cheltenham in November.

Beaten 18 lengths by Scriptwriter, he was patently outclassed but this looks far more his speed.

His trainer can also be on the mark with Grandeur D'Ame in the closing Haydock Park Racecourse Handicap Chase.

The seven-year-old is on a hat-trick after victories at Huntingdon and Stratford, with that second win coming just over a week ago in taking fashion.

He made all to win by 17 lengths and must shoulder a penalty for the win, although the handicapper will surely impose more than a 17lb rise for such a taking success.

Hurlerontheditch posted a fair third on his return from a lengthy lay off and can build on that in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle.

The seven-year-old has had only three starts under rules, winning a Wexford bumper in March 2021 before changing hands for £85,000 later that month.

Second on debut for Kim Bailey, Hurlerontheditch was then off the track for 439 days before returning at Chepstow, where he could not go with the early pace before staying on well.

He clearly retains plenty of ability and can get off the mark over hurdles, with his opening rating of 114 looking competitive.

Corey's Courage turns out under a penalty at Ffos Las and the hint should be taken in the Vickers.Bet Mares' Handicap Hurdle.

Three times a winner last term, Corey's Courage rose to a mark of 117 by the end of the campaign and she had fallen down the reckoning a bit since then with a series of moderate efforts.

However, she sparked back into life at Huntingdon last week, winning by eight and a half lengths from a perch of 107 in comfortable style.

Saddled with a 7lb penalty here, Corey's Courage is still 3lb below her highest winning mark.

Icone D'Aubrelle has yet to set the world alight in four British starts, but cannot be discounted from the Follow Vickers.Bet On Facebook Novices' Handicap Chase.

A hurdles winner in France before joining Neil Mulholland, three starts over the smaller obstacles last term yielded little joy and returning from 302 days off, he could finish only third at the first attempt over fences.

While he does not appear to be a new star for owner Robert Waley-Cohen, an event like this should be within his compass.

Galahad Threepwood is the pick at Warwick as he lines up in the Bet At racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle.

He looked set to take a hand in the finish at Doncaster when he unseated his rider at Doncaster on his penultimate run, but made amends with a narrow victory back on Town Moor at the start of the month.
