Just seven days after landing the Scottish Grand National at Ayr, the superstar Kitty's Light followed up with a gigantic effort to win the bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Sandown.

As expected Frodon set out to make the running under his welter burden of 12st but faced pressure from Moroder as the pair made their way down the back-straight for the final time. However, the well-supported 11/4 favourite, Kitty's Light, could be seen travelling well from a long way out. Christian Williams' runner made stealthy headway turning for home under a confident-looking Jack Tudor and the pair always looked to be getting the upper hand over Moroder (second) eventually pulling clear for a comfortable success.

Harry Fry's Revel Hill caught the eye travelling nicely for much of the way but faded tamely into third while The Goffer, who was never going rallied well to finish fourth.

Having placed in the race for the last two years Christian Williams' seven-year-old finally got his day. It was another emotional success with the trainer's daughter Betsy recently being diagnosed with leukaemia.

In an interview with ITV Racing jockey Jack Tudor said, "He's a freak. He's some boy. I was worried about the ground as it's quite sticky, but we thought everything was in place to run and it's unbelievable.

"What Chris and his family is going through is terrible but what this horse is doing is brilliant and I'm sure it's a massive lift for them all."

Trainer Chris Williams went on to say: "That was very special. He's a special horse and we wanted to give him the opportunity to do something special. We knew what the horse was capable of doing. It was a big ask, but he was well at home."
