Chepstow called for an 8am inspection but with temperatures dropping below minus six degrees overnight, officials were forced to make an early call.

A similar story was told at Plumpton with officials deciding to cancel racing around 6am this morning, two and a half hours before the intended inspection. Frost sheets were deployed across the whole track but were not enough to save the day.

Newbury's Wednesday afternoon card is subject to a 3pm inspection today, with parts of the Berkshire venue reported frozen on Tuesday morning.

Thursday's jumps card at Newcastle has already been abandoned with an additional all-weather meeting at Chelmsford put in place that evening. Please note that Chelmsford's Thursday evening fixture on the 18th of January will declare at the 24-hour stage.

Fairyhouse's fixture on the same day is also subject to passing a 12pm inspection tomorrow.

IHRB Clerk of the Course, Brian Sheridan said: "Ahead of declarations this morning for racing on Thursday, the track is currently unfit for racing due to overnight frost.

"Parts of the track are frozen following two nights of low temperatures, with last night getting down to at least minus 3C.

"We don't have the most favourable forecast with temperatures only rising to a high of 2C for a couple of hours today before dropping again tonight back to minus 3C.

"In light of that forecast and due to the current ground conditions, we will have a 12pm inspection on Wednesday to assess the prospects of racing here at Fairyhouse on Thursday."
