Coolmore have announced that six-time Group 1 winner Auguste Rodin will retire to stud after a final run in the Japan Cup on 24 November.

The classy son of Auguste Rodin completed the English-Irish Derby double as a three-year-old, before ending his campaign with a success in the twelve-furlong Group 1 Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita in November 2023. Despite a disappointing reappearance as a four-year-old in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic, Auguste Rodin rocketed back to prominency with a win in the ten-furlong Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

The first foal out of multiple Group 1 winner Rhododendron, Auguste Rodin adds another outstanding bloodline to the Coolmore roster, and should be exceedingly popular with breeders.

In a statement on Coolmore IRE website, MV Magnier commented: "Auguste Rodin is an exceptional racehorse and stallion prospect with the blend of class, speed and pedigree that only the best possess. He is a very special horse for us, and I truly believe he ranks up there with the best middle-distance racehorses and sires that we have stood here before him like Sadler's Wells, Galileo, Montjeu, Caerleon and Camelot. Physically he fills the eye so well as he has extra quality and movement so I can't wait to see his first crop in Ballydoyle in 2028. We are going to do all we can to give him the best possible opportunity to follow in his illustrious predecessor's footsteps."
